Bethesda Game Studios outlined the style of a space role-playing game Starfield like NASA-Punk. In an Xbox Wire interview, lead artist Istvan Peli said that the term was coined by the team to refer to the realistic sci-fi basis of the game.
“Early on the project, when we were trying to define the overall aesthetic of the game, we coined the term ‘NASA-Punk’ to refer to a sci-fi universe that would be a bit more down to earth and believable,” Starfield lead artist Istvan Peli told Xbox Wire.
“We wanted to show a very realistic perspective. You can draw a line from today’s space technology and predict what it will be like in the future in a way that’s believable and understandable.”
According to lead animator Starfield Rick Vicensthe coining of the term NASA-Punk was a turning point in the early days of the project.
“What’s really interesting is how much we all latched on to this concept. When it said ‘NASA-Punk’, the art team might immediately take those two words and make them work. It was the perfect term for our art direction and how to keep everyone in the same flow and working in the same style.”
starfield is coming out 11th of November just on Xbox Series X|S And PC.
