Todd Vaughn, senior vice president of Bethesda Softworks, wrote in an internal email to the company that well-known game producer Shinji Mikami will leave Tango Gameworks studio in the next few months today (23). This news was first disclosed by the foreign media TrueAchievements, and Bethesda has confirmed that the letter is not false.
Shinji Mikami first worked in Capcom for 16 years and developed the popular “Evil Castle” series, known as the father of horror games. After leaving Capcom, he formed his own studio Tango. Tango was later acquired by American media company ZeniMax Media (Bethesda’s parent company) and changed its name to Tango Gameworks. Then in 2020, as everyone knows, the entire ZeniMax Media was acquired by Microsoft.
During his 12 years at Tango Gameworks, Shinji Mikami led the development of the Haunting series, serving as an executive producer on Ghost Wire: Tokyo and the recently-released critically acclaimed Hi-Fi RUSH.
Shinji Mikami himself has yet to make any public announcements about this.
