Bethesda Softworks announced on February 22 (local time) that its own game launcher “Bethesda Launcher” will end at the end of April. Purchased games and wallet balances can be transferred to your Steam account.

Bethesda Launcher is a dedicated launcher for PCs that doubles as a Bethesda store. Previously, some games could only be played via Bethesda Launcher, but nowadays they are also available on Steam, including the popular Fallout series, Rage 2, and Doom Eternal.

The migration to Steam started in early April, and anything owned by the Bethesda.net account, including game libraries and wallets, can be migrated to Steam. Game save data will also be migrated, but some will require manual copying. Also, at the moment, only “Wolfenstein: Youngblood” cannot transfer save data. Bethesda.net accounts will still be required for Bethesda games and services after the move to Steam.

Bethesda Launcher will be available until the end of April, but after May you will not be able to play or access the game.

Many Bethesda games can also be purchased from the Xbox app and are eligible for the Game Pass. It’s unclear if these are affecting the termination of our launchers, but migrating to Steam is likely to be welcomed by many PC gamers as it reduces the number of launchers you have to use by one.
