Trainer BetBoom Team Anatoly Bool Ivanov speculated about the reasons for the departure of the team from ESL One Berlin Major 2023 in Dota 2. In a club video on YouTube, Ivanov also noted that the roster started off well in the tournament, but played worse every day.

When the new patch came out, I didn’t have the opportunity to adequately prepare for the tournament, and I wasn’t very well prepared in terms of hero rate, pool, and laning expectations. Now, in many ways, I started from what information my guys tell me. Selected heroes collectively. <...>

My personal opinion: in the course of this tournament, everything started normally in our team. We start, play the first day 3:1, play with Liquid and Gladiators, who are nominally top 2 in the world, we play with them 1:1, give some kind of fight, somewhere we try to experiment in the draft, try something, somehow find your game, adapt a little to the patch for the current meta. But in the end, I felt that every day it’s getting harder and harder for us play. At the same time, the opponent does nothing for this, we ourselves drive ourselves into such frames, because we seem to be mentally drying up, we give too much energy, there are too many opinions, some views on what we need to do, what heroes we need to choose . And these opinions change every single day. You just sit there, sort of trying to play with a certain pool and develop these ideas, while half of our team thinks that, on the contrary, everything needs to be radically changed.

BetBoom Team left the tournament following the results of the group stage, losing in the replays for reaching the playoffs of Team Aster and Evil Geniuses. The team from the CIS took 13th-14th place at the Major, for which the teams are not entitled to prize money and DPC points.

ESL One Berlin Major 2023 runs from April 26 to May 7. 18 participants will compete for a prize pool of $500,000 and 2,700 Dota Pro Circuit points. The schedule and results of the championship can be tracked in the report.
