FARGO — For the second year in a row Forbes Advisor has named North Dakota
the best state to start a business
. Forbes noted North Dakota’s welcoming business environment, low formation fees, business survival rate, and low cost of living as reasons why it ranked No. 1.
Forbes wrote, “North Dakota not only offers financial incentives but also provides a solid foundation for workforce development, ensuring businesses have access to a skilled and able workforce.”
South Dakota ranked No. 4 on this year’s list. The state received especially high points for the financial support available for small businesses. “South Dakota demonstrates a well-balanced mix of affordability, business support and workforce readiness, making it a favorable location for new business ventures,” according to Forbes.
