Using low-consumption light bulbs, filling household appliances, defrosting the freezer… The Ministry of Energy has produced an awareness video to help consumers reduce their electricity bill.
Encouraged, energy efficiency is also rewarded in Morocco. The Ministry of Energy Transition and the National Office for Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) are planning a bonus for end consumers having achieved electricity savings during the months of November and December 2022.
These savings are calculated in relation to the same period of the year 2021. The bonus, from which the most economical consumers will benefit in 2023, varies in proportion to the savings made.
The optimization of electricity consumption depends on good practices. The Ministry of Energy Transition presents them in a video. These best practices are as follows:
– use low consumption light bulbs (LED);
– turn off the lights when it is still day;
– unplug the electrical outlets unused appliances, especially televisions and computers;
– fill household appliances (washing machine and dishwasher);
– defrost the freezer, because 3 mm of ice increases electricity consumption by 30%;
– close windows and doors when the air conditioner is on. The preferred temperature is 25° in summer and 20° in winter.
