This new week of competition was placed under the sign of childhood. For the first test of the evening, the candidates had to revisit the clafoutis. “I want to rediscover the good taste of clafoutis and the typical flan apparatus. For the rest, do what you want… Surprise yourself and delight us,” warned Cyril Lignac. Without surprise, Thibaut was the best of this test with its clafoutis and mirabelle plum confit with verbena whipped ganache. “It’s super good, right on the mark… It’s perfect, I have nothing to say. It’s the dessert of the season!” Cyril Lignac even blurted out. On the other hand Emily, Julia and Hafidou did not convince the jury. Despite good cakes, clafoutis was not present enough in their creations.
For the technical test, candidates had to make a cartoon cake. Chantal came last in this challenge, behind Hafidou and Emily. Bertrand is in fourth position behind Thibaut. Julia, who already has the blue apron, won the technical event at Mercotte this week, making up for her flop from the beginning of the evening.
Finally, for the last test of the evening, the candidates had to reproduce in cakes wacky creations straight from children’s imaginations. Thibaut had to create a will-o’-the-wisp while Fanny’s mission was to make a castle cake, with a bridge and fireworks. For her part, Chantal had to prepare a chocolate-strawberry-raspberry cake with dinosaur robots, then Emily a motorcycle-car cake. Bertrand had to reproduce an Eiffel Tower cake with a cat playing a trumpet, while Julia had to make a cake representing Cyril and Mercotte singing in a karaoke. Finally, Hafidou had to represent a mermaid who makes multicolored farts. Christophe Michalak attributed his crush to Fanny. “It was delicious, you went to great lengths… My son would be a fan!” Fanny wins the blue apron for the second time, whileHafidou was eliminated.

What’s new in Best Pastry Chef season 12?
If Cyril and Mercotte are still the masters of ceremonies of the Best Pastry Chef next to Marie Portolano, candidates should be surprised by the many new features of this saison 12. For the first time, Mercotte will even get involved and give a masterclass to the candidates to reproduce a recipe from his famous grimoire. Another surprise: Mohamed, emblematic candidate of season 10, will also be there on the theme of deception.the eye.
