The New Zealand Comedy Trust is thrilled to reveal a selection of international and local comedy sensations who will grace the stage at the highly anticipated Best Foods Comedy Gala. Headlining the event are renowned acts including the fearless Felicity Ward, the enigmatic Tape Face, and the ever-charismatic Eli Matthewson. This ultimate night of laughter will be masterfully hosted by the talented Hayley Sproull on consecutive nights, 2 May in Auckland and 3 May in Wellington, setting the perfect tone for the annual 2025 NZ International Comedy Festival, brought to you by Best Foods Mayo.
From Australia, the comedy powerhouse and star of The Office Australia, Felicity Ward, is ready to bring her vibrant energy to the Gala. Known for her unforgettable roles on screen, Ward has captivated audiences worldwide with her no-holds-barred stand-up performances and her international multi-award-winning comedy tours. Her authenticity and sharp-witted humor have earned her a devoted following and acclaim from critics. Comedy lovers may recognize her from acclaimed shows like Taika Waititi’s Time Bandits, as well as appearances on Thank God You’re Here and Spicks and Specks.
Returning to the stage in New Zealand after a lengthy hiatus, Tape Face has been mesmerizing audiences with his one-of-a-kind comedic style around the globe, and he’s now poised to make his mark at the Gala. Following his remarkable journey to the finals of America’s Got Talent in 2016, where his performances garnered a staggering 220 million views on YouTube, Tape Face has achieved phenomenal international acclaim. He is currently making waves with his residency at the iconic MGM Grand in Las Vegas. In 2012, he received a nomination for the prestigious Fred Award for his show The Boy with Tape on his Face.
Joining the stellar line-up is the ever-popular Eli Matthewson, widely recognized as a frequent guest on comedy staples such as Guy Montgomery’s Guy Mont Spelling Bee, 7 Days, and as a charismatic contestant on Dancing with the Stars and Celebrity Treasure Island. Eli’s talent was honored when he won the sought-after Fred Award for Best NZ Show at the Comedy Fest in 2021.
