Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri sent a message to the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, congratulating him on his election as Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament.
The text of the telegram stated: “In my personal name and on behalf of the Parliament, I am pleased to extend my warmest congratulations to you for the confidence that the members of the Iraqi Parliament have granted you by electing you as the head of the legislative authority in the sisterly Republic of Iraq.”
He added: “I take it as an occasion to renew the Lebanese Parliament’s readiness to work together to develop forms of parliamentary cooperation in various fields, especially legislative ones, to serve the interests and brotherly relations between our two brotherly countries and peoples, wishing you success in your tasks and for the Iraqi people stability, progress and prosperity.”
