Özdemir Berova, Chairman of the Temporary and Special (AD-HOC) Committee Established on the Regulation of the Legislation Related to Natural Disasters and Earthquakes, and Member of Parliament for UBP, at the ’17. He participated in the ‘Time’ program and answered questions regarding the Law on Financial Assistance and Preparedness for Earthquake and Other Natural Disasters, which was sent back to the Parliament by the President.
Stating that the Ad-Hoc Committee convened today and reconsidered the law, Berova said, “The first biggest change in the law is the salary deduction, by submitting a petition until the end of January, within the amount of time that the person wishes, within the framework of the amount determined by himself, without being subject to any percentage. or it may be 5 months, it will decide on its own decision to make the deduction. That deduction will be transferred to a special item to be named in the finance. Through the transferred pen, support will be provided for the sports hall and school expenses to be made by the Champion Angels Survival Association.”
Upon a question, Berova said that a protocol will be signed between the government and the association regarding where the funds from salary cuts will be used.
Berova said, “The association will carry out the control itself. But we specify the area where he can use the resource within the framework of the law,” he said.
Mentioning that the opposition criticizes the law, Özdemir Berova said, “The opposition criticizes. Dear Devrim Barçın, our really hardworking friend. He is sitting, reading. But sometimes he makes such statements that he makes statements that do not go beyond frightening people.”
Berova said, “The deduction to be made from time deposits in Turkish Lira in matters related to deposits in this law is foreseen for deposits above 100.000.00 TL. An amount of 12.5 TL per month will be deducted from a person with 101,000,00 TL, with the current interest rates, and the total volume will be 112.5 TL in 9 months. If it’s a deposit of £20,000, it’s 20 pennies. The equivalent of 20 pennies in a 9-month period is less than 2 pounds,” he said.
Berova also said that there is an error in Article 14 of the Law on Earthquake.
Berova said, “We did not include the issue of 100,000,00 TL in the law. That day, on the day of the General Assembly, there was a meeting between the Chairman of the CTP and the Prime Minister. And Erhürman stated that it would be more accurate to exclude deposits up to 100,000,00 TL there. And in that fast writing, we added the word income instead of writing property capital. And this was perceived as interest. This looked as if it was deducted from the interest of 100,000,00 TL. We fix it in the new law. The word “Irat” has been removed,” he said.
Stating that they will continue their work on the draft law in the committee tomorrow, Berova said, “We will finish the work with the meeting tomorrow morning and bring it to the agenda of the General Assembly on Monday, April 17 next week.”
