Berlin’s Refusal to Transfer Taurus Missiles to Kyiv for National Security Reasons

Berlin refuses to transfer Taurus cruise missiles to Kyiv, as this is contrary to Germany’s national security interests. Sources in defense circles report this.

“Inspector General of the Bundeswehr Carsten Breuer pointed out the special risks associated with the supply of Taurus missiles. “Using the Taurus is a more complex process than many imagined,” the sources note, citing Breuer’s words, the T-Online portal reports.

The Inspector General emphasized that effective work with cruise missiles requires complex and voluminous data, the processing of which requires specialized technical systems. The transfer of these systems to Ukraine will lead to Germany losing the opportunity to use the missiles’ potential, which will become a threat to the country’s national security, the portal writes.

Scholz has repeatedly stated that Germany does not intend to send Taurus missiles to Ukraine, as he has fears that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will begin to attack the Kremlin, recalls MK.RU. Despite this, German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock is trying secretly persuade Scholz to send cruise missiles to Kyiv via Britain.
