Berlakovich: “Cash in the Constitution Strengthens Regions”

Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer not only focuses his politics on urban centers but also on rural regions

Vienna (OTS) “Anchoring cash in the constitution strengthens the regions. As a people’s party, we understand people’s fears that cash might be gradually abolished. By anchoring cash in the constitution, we are taking away these fears from people and ensuring that there will continue to be freedom of choice between cash and debit card payments in the future. This topic is particularly present in rural regions and Chancellor Karl Nehammer shows that he not only looks at the urban centers, but also focuses his politics on the rural regions of Austria,” says the spokesman for regional politics of the People’s Party, Deputy Nikolaus Berlakovich.

“Anyone who knows the reality of life in our country knows that cash is the preferred choice for older people in Austria and in rural areas. The data from the National Bank also show us that 47 billion euros are withdrawn from ATMs every year. It is therefore clear that cash continues to play a central role, which we want to continue to guarantee,” Berlakovich continued, who finally emphasized: “The People’s Party anchored a clear commitment to cash in its basic program as early as 2015. So the fact is: Herbert Kickl is the copying machine that sells the demands of the People’s Party as his own. We therefore do not need the FPÖ to recognize that the protection of cash is an important issue in our country.” (Conclusion)
