Before the death of Wilmer Gil, criminal lawyer José Gregorio Beria highlighted the need to continue with the investigation for the actors in the case.
Beria expressed to scoop that relatives and people who were accompanying Gil, have become eyewitnesses and have revealed a series of irregularities since he arrived at the emergency health center, until his death was declared at dawn on November 24.
“We might be in the presence of crimes that are provided for in Venezuelan criminal law. It is regarding the right to health, it is a right that according to the Constitution is inviolable, even for private health service providers ”, he indicated.
The lawyer noted that in private clinics they must guarantee primary medical care without any commercial condition.
He denounced that said factor “has become a habit” and is a use that violates the right to life and health that is occurring in private centers in Guyana.
Beria pointed out that there was alleged irresponsibility in the administration of the clinic, the insurance company and negligence of the medical personnel.
“Precedents must be set in Bolívar state, it is pertinent that the Public Ministry designate a prosecutor with national competence to investigate the death of Dr. Wilmer Gil,” he declared.
Regarding Gil, he highlighted his recognition as a university professor and his extensive career in the city, whose health might have been cared for and his life saved if these abnormalities had not occurred.
The lawyer requested that the way to proceed in the health centers of the Bolívar state be investigated, review the permits, operation, rates and compliance with the Constitution of the Republic.
“This series of irregularities must be stopped in some way, there are legal consequences, civil, criminal and administrative liability,” he closed.
