Bentley announced that its first electric car will reach 0 to 100 km / h in 1.5 seconds

In addition to being ecological and silent, electric cars can be very fast. In an automotive context in which the trend to start in the world of electrification is accelerating more and moreBentley entered the new era of mobility announcing that its first electric car will arrive in 2025.

Mystery tends to be generated around the details of the new electric cars of the automakers. In fact, of the new zero emission model neither the name nor its exterior design is knownalthough it is presumed that it will be a large sedan.

However, in an interview with Automobile News Europe, Bentley CEO Adrian Hallmark tossed out some tidbits that made iron lovers want to glue themselves to the seat (literally). The new model will have a power plant of 1,400 hp, and will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km per hour in just 1.5 seconds.

Hallmark explained that, far from being the only ones, these characteristics are one of the great attributes of the emerging model: “Most people enjoy acceleration from 50 to 100 km/h, so that’s where Bentley’s first electric vehicle will shine.”.

It might be said then that the axis is set to speed, but with tact. From Bentley they assured that the idea is to avoid dizziness and unpleasant sensations caused by sudden acceleration, and they said that the car will have a less aggressive mode, capable of accelerating in 2″70/100. The car would have a mechanism to regulate the intensity of the accelerations, so that it is the driver himself who inserts the mode he wants.

To give a frame of reference, the Tesla Model S Plaid is the fastest current production car model from 0 to 100 km/h, achieving that speed in 1″90/100, according to Automovile News. Outside of series production cars, the Rimac Nevera does so in 1″86/100. If the Bentley EV reaches the promised 1″50/100, it would become the fastest-accelerating car on the market.

Returning to the speculation of the design of the EV, although no details were given of the aesthetics that it will have, there is a hypothesis that this announcement is the continuation of the futuristic electric prototype that was exhibited in 2019el Bentley EXP 100 GT Concept, a sedan that was presented as the path of the brand in its transition to the future.

What has been revealed, apart from the superior speed, is that the price of the EV will be approximately 250,000 euros, and that production will begin in 2025. It will be manufactured in Crewe, England.
