Bentancur’s big fright, evacuated on a stretcher after a huge shock to the head

Rodrigo Bentancur was taken off on a stretcher on Monday during the last match of the first day of the Premier League between Leicester and Tottenham. The Spurs midfielder suffered a big blow to the head. He even lost consciousness for a few moments.

Two days after the huge scare for Lille’s Angel Gomes, it is this time Rodrigo Bentancur’s turn to scare all Tottenham fans. Starting this Monday against Leicester in the Premier League, the Uruguayan was evacuated on a stretcher after a huge shock.

Hit in the head during an aerial duel with Issahaku Fatawu on a Spurs corner, Rodrigo Bentancur fell KO and face down on the pitch at the King Power Stadium. Very quickly taken care of by the London club’s medical staff, under the worried gaze of his teammates and the Foxes players, the 27-year-old midfielder needed a few minutes to regain consciousness.

The game was interrupted, Bentancur was conscious but was taken away on a stretcher.

The game was stopped to provide first aid to Rodrigo Bentancur. Five minutes after this forced stoppage, the Tottenham midfielder was briefly seated on the pitch to recover his composure.

He was then carried off on a stretcher to loud applause from the spectators in the stands and given a mask to help him breathe. While the South American midfielder was carried to the Londoners’ dressing room, before potentially being taken to hospital for examination, play resumed after an eight-minute interruption.

Vardy scores at 37, could Bentancur miss Everton?

His replacement, Archie Gray, failed to give Tottenham victory on this first day of the Premier League. If the Spaniard Pedro Porro had opened the scoring for Spurs shortly before the half-hour mark, the inexhaustible Jamie Vardy equalized for Leicester after the break (1-1, 58th).

At 37, the Foxes legend put together a fine sequence of goals to help his team take a point for their return to the top flight. After this draw (1-1), Leicester will travel to Fulham on the second day of the Premier League, while Tottenham will host Everton on Saturday.

A match played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for which Ange Postecoglou should not be able to count on Rodrigo Bentancur, barring a pleasant surprise, after his impressive mishap.
