Benji Gregory, star of the series “Alf”, dies at 46

Benji Gregory, best known for his role as Brian Tanner on the series “Alf,” has died at the age of 46.

According to information published by “TMZ”, the former actor was found dead inside his car, in a parking lot in Arizona. Gregory’s sister, Rebecca, confirmed the news and detailed that the events occurred on June 13; however, the causes of death have not yet been revealed.

Rebecca also revealed that the former child star was diagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder and had a sleeping disorder that might keep him awake for days. Along with his remains was also that of his service dog.

Although investigations are ongoing, sources close to Benji believe that following going to the bank, he fell asleep in the car and tragically died of heat stroke, but this has not yet been confirmed.

The family also said that they are going through an extremely difficult time and thanked everyone for the kindness they have received. They even asked fans to honor Benji’s memory through donations to the and the kind words of everyone. They suggest that donations in Benji’s name to the Actors’ Equity Foundation or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, causes that he would have supported in life, would be appreciated.

Originally from Los Angeles, California, Benjamin Gregory Hertzberg was an American actor. His most notable role was as one of the Tanner family’s sons in the 1980s sitcom “ALF.”

Prior to this work, Gregory participated in other programs such as “Fantasy Island”, “Amazing Stories” and “The Twilight Zone” just to name a few.

His last appearance on screen was almost 30 years ago. In the 2000s he decided to study at the Academy of Art University and later enlisted in the United States Navy, which he served in until 2005.
