Benito Juárez Scholarship: What to do if your card expires in 2024

The Government of Mexico offers a financial support program, the Benito Juárez Well-Being Scholarship, aimed at students in early childhood education, preschool, primary, secondary, high school and university.

Students who can access this scholarship must meet certain criteria. Firstly, they must have a low income, that is, their family’s financial resources are not sufficient to cover their basic needs. In addition, they must be enrolled in public schools located in priority localities.

The implementation of the Benito Juárez Scholarship for Well-Being reflects a significant effort to combat school dropouts and promote equal educational opportunities throughout the country. That is why, in order to continue providing support, the National Scholarship Coordination announced what to do if your card is about to expire or has already expired.

If you have money and your card is about to expire, this is what you must do to be entitled to your financial support:

• Go to a branch of the Banco del Bienestar.
• Bring the original and a copy of an official ID.
• Copy of the contract you received when you opened your bank account.
• Make your withdrawal at one of the cash registers for the amount you need.

It is important to note that even if your card expires, your account will not change or be lost, so you will be able to continue receiving social support.

After the resumption of the social program on June 3, the first cards were delivered; however, there are people who did not receive the plastic even though they had an appointment, so they must take the following steps to have their financial support:

• Go to the official program page.
• Enter the “Status Finder”.
• Go to the “Virtual Window” section.
• Go to the “Forms” section.
• Select and fill out: “I went to the appointment where they would give me my Banco del Bienestar card, but they did not attend to me.”

Once you have finished, you will have to wait and keep an eye on your mailbox because authorized personnel will contact you to collect your card, with which you will be able to access social support.

On the other hand, it is important that you always check that your status is active, so here we give you the steps you must follow to be sure that you are still in the social program:

• Enter your homoclave (CURP) where indicated.
• Click on ‘I’m not a robot’.
• Select ‘search’.

The portal will tell you what the status is and you may get one of these options:

• ACTIVE: If this option appears for you, it means that you are already one of the beneficiaries of one of the basic, upper secondary or higher scholarships.

The date of the consultation will appear on the screen, as well as the time. The CURP, the CCT and the program to which you belong will also be displayed. The CURP, the CCT and the type of person will also be repeated.

• UNDER REVIEW: If this is your case, then we must confirm that the minor is in the current school year or it has not yet been determined whether or not they will be beneficiaries.

If you have any questions, the coordinators recommend using the “Status Finder” and checking your inbox, as this will let you know when, where, and with what documentation you should go to one of the offices to validate your registration.

After this, it is recommended to repeat the process to find out whether or not you have been accepted into the program.

• LOW: If your result is this, then you were not selected to be part of the social support; however, the reason why you did not enter the program will be reported on the page, this according to the current Operating Rules.

Despite the above, it is important that if you were a scholarship recipient you check if you have scholarships to collect, as you may have a balance in your favor, despite having low status.
