Benito Fernández spoke about the difficult stage of his life: “It was the worst moment of my life” (Video: Lunch with Juana, El Trece)
In recent weeks, news broke that Benito Fernández was not having a good time in his life. Although the designer did not want to make any further statements, when he was intercepted on the street by a reporter from Socios del Espectáculo, Fernández assured “that he was fine.” On this occasion, this Sunday he was invited to Almorzando con Juana, the show hosted by Juana Viale on El Trece.
Looking good, wearing a designer jacket and his classic glasses, Benito began by telling how he feels. “It’s a difficult moment,” he said. “It’s a bit difficult for me to talk, I was doing poorly in the ready-to-wear department, I had a line called Benito, which I’ve now closed, and I’m only going to stick with haute couture. The truth is that I was struggling in dulce de leche,” he said regarding his economic situation. “It went badly not only because of the country’s situation, but also because being creative I did some things wrong in business,” he said.
“A lot of things came together for me, having to close Benito and some other establishments was very hard for me. I had an attack of stress, panic, anxiety, depression, a bit of everything, the doctors advised me to go to the Avril Clinic, and I thank my colleagues and all the people there from the bottom of my heart,” he said, visibly moved.
He then explained what it meant to him to have to close some of his businesses. “It was very difficult for me because closing stores meant having to fire girls who had been with me for many years, because it’s not just three people, it’s a whole chain that is affected,” he said.

“The truth is that that set me off, I had a heart problem, I fainted, it was an episode in which I exploded, and that’s why I was admitted. Afterwards, on TV they say things that are not good,” he continued. “The weekend that they admitted me, the Palermo store was closing just then, and they admitted me there without a cell phone, without anything, and the truth is that I left my children, whom I apologize to, in a tremendous mess. Lucas was the one who appeared in some videos kicking out one of the girls, and not in the best way, but he was able to do what he could. Now I took the reins and we are doing things as they should be,” he said in conversation with the round table, among whom were Belén Francese, Marcelo Polino, Nicolás Scarpino and Ramiro Marra.

“But it was the worst moment of my life,” he reiterated. “I reset myself at the clinic and was able to overcome everything, but the truth is that I have tremendous energy. I will get over the slump, because it is the first grade I give, then I will be fine, because I am super creative. I had not been doing things that I liked, since before the pandemic. The economic and frustrations I had were very great, so creativity was affected. I saw my grandson Fermín but I could not enjoy it, it distressed me. Today I stand from another place and I have a lot of projects. What happened to me is that one loves this industry so much, with so many sources of work, and it is the one that needs the most labor, so seeing the country that cannot also makes me anxious. Now I am with a real estate project, I am looking for land. I am doing it with Gonzalo Mazzei, an architect from La Plata,” he revealed about his new plans for the future, and with his energy focused on feeling well again.
