Benito Fernández’s difficult moment: exclusive information on the designer’s situation

The difficult moment of Benito Fernandez (LAM. America)

Renowned fashion designer Benito Fernández is facing a major economic crisis that might lead him to bankruptcy. As revealed on LAM (América TV), the prominent fashion designer, known for his enormous influence in the industry and with a large media presence, might not be in a position to pay the corresponding compensation to his employees, and images of his son mistreating one of his employees were circulated, which triggered a series of lawsuits once morest him.

Amid the commotion caused by the public status of this situation, Teleshow contacted Fernández’s inner circle, who gave their version of the case: “Benito, on professional advice, has been incommunicado for a few days, without a phone or social networks, since he was hospitalized for days due to stress at the Otamendi Sanatorium,” said his press officer, Mariana Metzger. “He has already been discharged, but he is constantly undergoing check-ups. At work he is only attending to his haute couture commitments,” she added.

According to his testimony, “Benito is going through a difficult situation like all SMEs in the country, but he is not going through a bankruptcy situation.” In this regard, he referred to “an issue of readjustment of his brand, ready-to-wear is not sold as in other times, and that is why Benito was evaluating how to handle this. In addition, there is the issue of his health and lack of communication.”

Benito Fernández is recovering from a stress attack

The press officer also spoke regarding the accusations once morest Lucas, Benito’s son. “Unfortunately, with his little experience in the company, Lucas had an outburst with the employees of the stores, a situation that Benito is unaware of. But Lucas will soon try to make amends and apologize first, and in private, to the employees. His father’s situation overwhelmed him and he handled it poorly,” argued Metzger.

Regarding the next steps, she said: “On Friday, Benito Fernández has the haute couture appointments on his agenda, and for now everything would remain on track. I don’t know if the professional who is treating him will recommend something else following the altercation that occurred with his son,” concluded his press agent. In the same sense, Soledad Solaro, a friend of the designer, revealed a recent meeting to give an account of the couturier’s improvement: “On Monday I had lunch with him, we bought fabrics and his energy and mood are super good. Logically, with that strong peak of stress with checks and care,” the model highlighted.

After addressing the issue in LAM, Matilda Blanco, who has worked with the designer on several occasions, spoke: “I tried to communicate with his family, with his ex-wife, with his children, with Benito, with his former assistant who is living abroad and there is a lot of secrecy and nobody wants to say anything, so the entire fashion world is wondering what is wrong with Benito, if he is in poor health. He is a person to whom you write and he answers three seconds before you send them to him, and it is very strange because he does not read the messages directly.”

Regarding the present, the guest panelist revealed that “Benito was overwhelmed at a time by everything that was happening economically in the country in general, and fashion really affected him closely and Benito was one of them,” clarifying the present of Fernández’s brand in Argentina.

Location of Benito Fernandez

Ángel de Brito, the host of the program, presented a series of videos, in which one of the Benito stores that was already closed to the public might be seen. “Only the one in Palermo was left. This happened recently and the employees began to communicate with us, telling us regarding different situations, some of mistreatment, others of non-payment,” said the host.

After this, some images were broadcast showing the moment in which one of Fernández’s employees demanded a document confirming her dismissal, while Lucas, the designer’s son, responded bluntly that he was no longer part of the company. De Brito added that this employee was later arrested by the police following a heated argument with the young man.

The host also went on to detail that “a person who works at the establishment that was opened told me that Benito is broke, that he is not paying the severance pay to the long-time employees who have left the company. First they told them that this was complicated because Benito was hospitalized, that was the first explanation. That he had an arrhythmia, that he was depressed, they kept changing the versions. And in the last few hours they saw him in Gardiner having dinner with Soledad Solaro.”

Yanina Latorre, a panelist on the show, added that Fernández’s precarious economic situation led him to be hospitalized for a day. She said that the designer cancelled a dinner he had planned due to the stress of the situation, which would show the degree of pressure and tension he is facing.

De Brito, meanwhile, returned to the subject of layoffs at the establishments, stating that “all the girls who are there have been there for many years, the son is in charge of the layoffs and there is a lot of concern regarding the subject because the four girls are the breadwinners of the family, they worked with him for 8 or 10 years” concluded the LAM host.
