Benin: Bus caught fire after truck collision, 22 people died | Life

On January 30, the government Benin reported that 22 people were killed in a road accident involving buses and vans in the central part of the country.

The accident happened on January 29 when a bus carrying passengers and a truck collided with each other near the commune of Dassa-Zoumè, killing at least 22 people and injuring many more.

Transport company Baobab Express said its bus traveling from Parakou (central) to Cotonou (south) was carrying 40 passengers.

Currently, Baobab Express has announced to cancel all scheduled trips this week.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident and a crisis unit has also been set up to provide assistance to the relatives of the victims.

After the accident, the government of Benin urged people to be careful when driving and respect road traffic laws to avoid similar tragedies.
