Benguela records more than 30 cases of sexual abuse against minors – Jornal OPaís

The National Police (PN) reported 39 cases of sexual abuse once morest minors aged 14 to 16, from October 2023 to February this year, in the municipality of Benguela.

The information was provided to ANGOP by the municipal commander of Benguela of the National Police, chief superintendent Filipe Cachota, regarding the lecture on the role of the family in preventing sexual abuse and early pregnancy, under the auspices of the Group of Women Parliamentarians ( GMP).

Speaker of the theme of this reflection lecture, the municipal commander of Benguela considers this figure to be high, which means that society must be mobilized to reverse this trend.

According to the corporation’s senior officer in the municipality of Benguela, 32 of the 39 cases were committed by people close to the victims, including parents, grandparents, cousins ​​and neighbors.

Filipe Cachota, seeing the prevention of sexual abuse as a fight for everyone, assures that the scenario leads social actors to a deep reflection on how we are building this society.

Given the current scenario, the commander has no doubt that society is in crisis, due to the breakdown of families.
