Bengal Sports Minister in the Ranji Trophy team

West Bengal Sports Minister Manoj Tiwari has been named in the squad for the Ranji Trophy. The player is returning to cricket following a gap of one year. Tiwary last played in the 2020 Ranji Trophy final. The Bengal team will be led by Abhimanyu Ishwar.

Tiwary, who is also an Indian cricketer, became the Sports Minister of Bengal last year. The Trinamool Congress candidate won from Shibpur constituency. Tiwary, who has played 12 ODIs and three T20Is for India, is one of the best batsmen in first-class cricket. He has 8,965 first-class runs, including 27 centuries, and a batting average of 50.36. Tiwary, 36, is making his debut in 204 first-class cricket.

Bengal are in the Ranji Trophy Elite Group B. Apart from Bengal, Vidarbha, Haryana, Kerala, Tripura and Rajasthan are in the group.
