“Ben Chiarot is not playing, it’s a management decision,” said interim head coach Martin St-Louis during his press conference today.
Considered one of the targets of choice for teams aspiring to great honours, Chiarot should change address soon. The veteran ends his contract in 2021-2022 and might become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this campaign.
“It’s a week that can be difficult for many guys, added St-Louis. We have to focus on what we can control and support the guys who are going through this.”
On Monday, the Colorado Avalanche acquired defenseman Josh Manson from the Anaheim Ducks for a prospect and a second-round pick in 2023. That gives an idea of what the Canadiens might get in return for Chiarot.
So far this season, the left-hander of the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge has amassed seven goals and 11 assists for 18 points.
