Bella Hadid to Sue Adidas Over Israel!

  • Adidas drops former Palestinian model Bella Hadid amid controversy

Famous Palestinian-American model Bella Hadid is preparing to launch a legal battle once morest German sportswear giant Adidas over its Munich-related advertising campaign at the 1972 Olympics, for which it apologized to Israel.

Media reports suggest Hadid has appointed a legal advisor to fight Adidas, which has dropped its advertising campaign for the shoe inspired by the sneakers used at the 1972 Munich Olympics.

An insider explained that Hadid has hired lawyers to take legal action once morest Adidas due to its lack of public accountability, saying that she “feels like they have led a harsh and destructive campaign.”

The same source confirmed that Hadid was upset with an Adidas campaign that linked her to a tragedy, such as the Munich Massacre at the 1972 Olympics.

It has also been reported that Hadid remains under contract with Adidas despite earlier reports that the company had fired her over attacks on the company in the context of Israel’s war on Gaza.

Adidas chose Hadid to promote its sports shoe (SL72), which was first launched during the 1972 Olympics.

Adidas apologizes to Israel

Adidas recently relaunched the SL72 model as part of a series of reviving classic sneakers. But photos of Hadid wearing the shoes sparked criticism, including from the official account of the Israeli entity on the “X” platform.

The post on the platform read: “Guess who directed their campaign? Bella Hadid… a half-Palestinian model.”

The occupation forces claimed that Israeli authorities had criticized the company’s choice of model Hadid, accusing her of being hostile to “Israel” and pointing out that “11 Israeli athletes were killed by Palestinian attackers at the 1972 Munich Olympics”.

Adidas subsequently issued a formal apology to Israel and said it would “review its activities.”

“We are aware that some people may find associations with tragic historical events, although this is completely unintentional, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or distress this may cause,” the company said in a statement.

On the other hand, other activists on social media defended Hadid and called for a boycott of Adidas following the company withdrew its campaign.

It’s worth noting that Bella Hadid is a staunch supporter of the Palestinians and earlier this year she donated to support Gaza war relief efforts.

Hadid and her father, Palestinian real estate tycoon Mohammed Anwar Hadid, have been outspoken in their support for Palestinians affected by the Gaza war.

Two days ago, model Hadid wrote on the “X” platform account: “Where is your (Adidas) apology to the Palestinian people following you supported a country that killed 40,000 Palestinians in this genocide?”

She also wrote in another tweet: “Adidas issued a statement through Newsweek apologizing to the Zionists and saying they are reconsidering the campaign,” adding that the “adidas Originals SL72 campaign brings together a wide range of partners to celebrate the birth of a lightweight running shoe, designed over 50 years ago.”

Last May, Hadid also said on her Instagram account that she was “deeply shocked by the loss of the Palestinian people and the lack of empathy from government systems around the world.”

Hadid and her sister, model Gigi Hadid, also donated $1 million (£785,000) to support Palestinian relief efforts.
