Belizean and Guatemalan arrested and drugs, weapons and ammunition seized
Authorities arrest two people in Petén, where they seized several illegal items, including drugs.

The National Civil Police (PNC) reported that a Belizean man and a Guatemalan woman were arrested in Petén during a raid.
They are Nydia “N”, 42 years old, and Belizean Matherw “N”, 47, whose arrests were recorded on Wednesday, July 17 in a diligence carried out in coordination with the Public Ministry (MP) in the Judá neighborhood, Melchor de Mencos, Petén.
Inside the home, investigators seized two illegal pistols and ammunition of different calibers.
Also, eight bags with 632 pills of different colors of synthetic drugs, presumably ecstasy; in addition, six boxes with 60 thousand units of contraband cigarettes and a pickup truck with Belizean license plates C-13979.
The MP reported that following the tests it was determined that the multi-colored pills were cocaine.
Clothing and two cell phones were also seized during the search in Melchor de Mencos.

The investigative body added that the aim was to locate evidence that would help strengthen ongoing investigations.
