Ludivine Dedonder was the guest of Bel RTL matin. Speaking to Martin Buxant, the Minister of Defense announced the sending of additional aid to Ukraine.

The Minister of Defense, Ludivine Dedonder, announced the sending of some Belgian F-16 fighter bombers to Ukraine, from 2025, “depending on the increase in power of our new F-35 capacity”. In addition to sending combat aircraft, Belgium will continue its pilot training efforts and offer to take care of the maintenance of the entire coalition F-16 fleet. The goal is to provide continued aid to Ukraine, she said.

Will personnel be sent to Ukraine? “Belgian personnel will train Ukrainian pilots in Belgium, Denmark and probably in one of the countries of the European Union. For the moment, we are not yet talking regarding Ukraine. We are in the process of allowing the Ukraine to modernize its armed forces. And I think that what we are offering here is fundamental and much better than a simple announcement of the sending of a few F-16s.”
