Belgian cyclist Jasper Phelpsen, rider of the Alibisin Phoenix team, crowned the fifteenth stage of the Tour de France, today, Sunday.
In the 202.5 kilometer stage, which took place between the regions of Rodez and Carcassonne, Phelpsen outperformed compatriot Vout van Arte, the Jumbo Visma rider, who came in second, and Mads Pedersen, the Danish rider of the Trek Sagafredo team, who came third.
Phelpsen finished the race in a time of 4 hours 27 minutes and 27 seconds, to decide the victory in the race, which witnessed several accidents with the fall of a group of competitors, most notably the Danish Jonas Vingaard, the leader in the general classification, while the Dutchman Steve Krusvik suffered a severe injury and had to withdraw.
Despite his fall, Vinegard held the overall lead by two minutes and 22 seconds from the Slovenian team Emirates rider Tadi Bogacher, and two minutes and 43 seconds from Britain’s Gerant Thomas, the Ineos rider.
