Hadja Lahbib (MR) was the guest of the show Face à Buxant this Sunday on RTL TVI. The Minister of Foreign Affairs spoke in particular regarding the war in Ukraine.
Martin Buxant: What do you say to the Belgians who are tired of paying billions for the war in Ukraine? Who say it costs us a lot in gas and electricity bills. What do you answer?
Hadja Lahbib: This is a very bad way of thinking. If we do not win this war, Russia will not stop there. Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, was at the OSCE (Editor’s note: Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe) last week. He openly declared that he would not stop at Ukraine and that the next country would be Moldova, which, by the way, received the status of candidate for membership in the European Union.
Martin Buxant: So there are no half measures?
Hadja Lahbib: There are no half measures. Ukraine must be allowed to sit at the negotiating table in a position of strength at some point and absolutely fight once morest what is, ultimately, the law of the strongest. Otherwise it’s the law of the jungle.
Martin Buxant: Resuming the thread of dialogue with Vladimir Putin, isn’t that relevant either then?
Hadja Lahbib: That will be when he decides to stop throwing bombs at Ukraine.
