This is the case in Oudenaarde (East Flanders) which installed its festive tree last week and which quickly became “the most talked regarding Christmas tree in the country”, words of the alderman of the festivals of the municipality. Because if the decorations were there, one detail posed a problem. And above all attracted all eyes.

“Actually, it’s not the tree we asked for,” says John Adama. “It was a two-trunk tree, although we had ordered a single-trunk tree. But as we had promised the business owners of Oudernarde that the tree would already be installed as part of an event, we no longer had time to change. » Unfortunately, the tree had many other problems: holes, branches broken during transport…

And despite the incredible work of city employees to decorate it, everyone was talking regarding the Oudenaarde tree for only one reason: the fact that it was leaning.

“Usually our tree receives nothing but praise for its absolutely beautiful decorations, but this time it was crooked. It looks like our Christmas tree is cursed, because it happens almost every year,” recalls the alderman who saw his town make the headlines, one following the other, for the ugliest tree in the country, a supplier who actually falling into the canal, lights not good enough…

Nicknamed the Tower of Pisa, the Oudenaarde Christmas tree was finally erected this Tuesday to the delight of visitors.
