The end of the winter holidays means polar cold this year. Beyond very low temperatures, the wind reinforces the feeling of cold. The Royal Meteorological Institute has issued a yellow cold alert for all of Wallonia, except Walloon Brabant, from midnight this Sunday evening. Separately, the IRM has issued a yellow warning for slippery conditions across the country.

The sky will still be overcast with a possibility of some snowfall on Monday followingnoon, according to forecasts from the Royal Belgian Meteorological Institute (IRM) at midday. During the followingnoon, more clearing might appear in the east and northeast of the country. The maxima will be between 0 degrees at sea and -5 degrees in the eastern cantons. A moderate wind, or even quite strong on the coast, will reinforce the feeling of cold.

Monday evening, clearings will widen from the northeast. However, regions close to France will still have to deal with more cloudy fields. During the night from Monday to Tuesday, the sky will be clear throughout the territory. The minimums will vary from -4 degrees at the sea, -6 degrees in the center, and up to values close to -9 degrees in the Hautes Fagnes.

The day of Friday will start under gray skies in many places, with low clouds and/or freezing fog. During the day, clearings will develop and will be more likely south of the Sambre et Meuse furrow.
