Belgium should switch to code orange “from next Friday”, says Pierre-Yves Dermagne

There is a political consensus to switch to code orange in the management of the health crisis, Prime Minister Alexander De Croo told the House on Thursday. The reduction in hospitalizations and contaminations authorizes a new stage, namely moving from the red code of the corona barometer to the orange code which will notably involve the lifting of the closing time in the horeca or the reopening of nightclubs under certain conditions.

There seemed to be a consensus also to remove the obligation, at least until 10 years (4th primary). Nevertheless, the Federal Minister of Health, Frank Vandenbroucke, does not want to consider it before the end of February. Pierre-Yves Dermagne pleads for his part “so that we can relax this rule”.

Telework should also be discussed. “I rather plead for a strong recommendation,” said the Minister of the Economy to our colleagues.

If the Consultation Committee should decide this Friday to switch to the barometer’s code orange, “the measures would come into force from next Friday, the 18th,” he said. It is at the end of the Consultation Committee that the information will be confirmed.
