Belgium National Day 2024: live report from Brussels

On July 21, they celebrated their national holiday in Belgium. Where King’s Day in Belgium is a sober affair without the king and queen, yesterday the entire royal family was together in Brussels. Watch the best images of the festive day here!

The national holiday began secretly on Saturday evening, with a classical music concert in the Belgian capital. King Filip, Queen Mathilde, Princess Astrid and Prince Lorenz attended the traditional concert.

Private photo

Princess Delphine shared a private photo with her children and parents, King Albert and Queen Paola, on her social media account on Sunday. “It is quite unusual for me to share a family photo, but on this special day I make an exception.”

You gods

Sunday morning, the official program started with the Te Deum at the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula in Brussels. King Philippe, Queen Mathilde and their four children: Princess Elisabeth, Prince Gabriel, Prince Emmanuel and Princess Eléonore arrived at the cathedral.

Military and civil parade

In the afternoon at 16:00 the program continued with a military and civil parade. Princess Elisabeth and Prince Gabriel had changed after the service that morning for the parade. Other Belgian royals were also present. We saw Prince Laurent, Princess Astrid with Prince Lorenz, Princess Delphine with her husband James O’Hare.

Fireworks show

After the parade, the royal family enjoyed the festivities in two parks in Brussels. The day ended in the Jubelpark, with music and a spectacular laser and drone show with fireworks. On the Instagram channel of the Belgian court, the royal family thanks everyone for the beautiful day and wishes their compatriots a nice summer.
