On the occasion of the national holiday, the entire Belgian royal family gathered in the morning to celebrate the “Te Deum” at the Cathedral of Saints Michael and Gudula in Brussels.

King Albert II made a remarkable appearance there given that it was his first public outing since his recent health problems, which had earned him hospitalization for a few days. Queen Mathilde warmly greeted King Albert II, accompanied by his wife Queen Paola, before saying a few words to him. The children of the royal couple, Princess Elisabeth, Prince Gabriel, Prince Emmanuel and Princess Eléonore, were also present during the ceremony.

King Albert II, who celebrated his 89th birthday on June 6, had some difficulty standing during the religious service.
