Support for Ukraine’s integration into the European Union also seems to be weakening: 58% of Belgian voters say they are in favor. This is less than the average within the EU (60%) and than in September 2023, when 62% of Belgians were in favor.
Still according to this poll, support for Ukraine generally appears a little firmer among Dutch-speaking voters than among French-speaking voters. Asked if they are ready to limit imports from Russia, even if it means increasing fuel prices, 65% of Flemish people approve of this idea compared to 61% of Walloons.
We only find a (short) majority of opponents of Ukraine’s integration into the EU within two Belgian parties: the PTB, on the French-speaking side, and Vlaams Belang on the Dutch-speaking side. But 47% of Vlaams Belang voters and 43% of PTB voters are still in favor of Ukraine’s integration into the EU.
Eupinions is an initiative of the Bertelsmann Stiftung. The survey was carried out in December 2023 among 13,000 EU citizens, including 1,112 Belgians.
