Rome (AFP) – Promising Belgian midfielder Charles de Kitlar, 21, arrived in Lombardy to finalize his transfer to AC Milan, the Italian football champion, according to photos published by the Italian media.
The Belgian international (8 international matches and one goal) arrived at Milan at night and was received by some fans, and on Tuesday morning he began his medical examination in preparation for signing a contract with the Rossoneri.
De Kettler did not speak to the media present, but on Monday evening he greeted his parent club Club Brugge with a message on Twitter: “I want to thank FC Brugge for giving me the opportunity since I was a child, (…) to realize my dreams.”
De Kettler starred last season in the Champions League in the Belgian club’s shirt, prompting Milan to provide regarding 35 million euros (including bonuses) to attract him to the first division, according to figures reported by the press.
De Kitlar, thanks to his technique and speed, can play in the position of the number 10 playmaker or on the right flank of the Rossinieri attack.
His contract also comes as part of the Italian champion’s policy, returning to the top, which relies in particular on young players with high potential for development.
De Kitlar will become Milan’s third signing this summer, following his compatriot Divock Origi, who is coming in a free transfer deal from Liverpool and French Yassin Adly from Bordeaux.
Milan lost the services of Ivory Coast international defender Frank Kessier, who moved to Barcelona in a free deal, and defense magnate Alessio Romagnoli, who joined Lazio.
Milan will open its title defense campaign on August 13 by hosting Udinese.
