TASS, 25 June. The Belgian national basketball team became the winner of the European Women’s Championship, defeating the Spanish team in the final. The meeting took place on Sunday in Ljubljana.
The match ended with the score 64:58 in favor of the Belgian basketball players. Earlier on Sunday, in the match for third place, the French team beat Hungary with a score of 82:68.
The tournament in 2023 was held in Ljubljana and Tel Aviv. The Belgian national team for the first time became the European champion, the Spanish team won the tournament in 1993, 2013, 2017 and 2019. The record holder for the number of victories in the championship is the USSR team, which won the tournament 21 times. The Russian national team became the European champion three times (2003, 2007, 2011).
