The anger of farmers has been felt for several days in our country. After several days of demonstrations and blockages of all kinds, this Friday once more, many farmers gathered in different places in Wallonia to make their demands heard.
Among these, the desire to see Belgian productions be more valued compared to foreign goods. To do this, farmers blocked trucks transporting foreign goods to large retailers, allowing only trucks transporting Belgian goods to pass.
This Friday, in the Intermarché de Crisnée, some farmers had the unpleasant surprise of discovering that they had been duped: by analyzing duck breasts of “Belgian origin” more closely, it turns out that these goods came from actually from Hungary! Indeed, under the first label, we might see another, original, explaining that the duck actually came from Hungary.
“We are being lied to all along,” laments a farmer. “This is what big retailers are.”
