Belgian Families Scammed by Majestic Castle Rental in Italy: Shocking Discoveries and Failed Reimbursement

Believing to have reserved a majestic castle in Italy for a period of two weeks, three Belgian families noted with amazement that the owner of the place had cheated them. For its part, the site which takes care of linking hosts and hosted would not have refunded the rental, reports 7sur7.

They wanted to pass”quite a high-end holiday“, but the stay they had booked turned out to be disastrous, and that’s an understatement. As usual for several years, three Belgian families had chosen to go through the specialized site Belavilla to find the ideal place for their summer holidays. Their choice is quickly oriented towards a castle located in Tuscany. To stay there for two weeks, the summer vacationers have paid 13,000 euros, reports 7sur7, a Belgian media. On paper, everything seems perfect: swimming pool, air conditioning and a pretty area that amazes the eyes, remembers Karel, who took care of the reservation.

A “strange feeling”

But following 15 hours in the car, his family, which has gotten ahead of the others, is taken by a “strange feeling“. Indeed, the iron gate mentioned on the site cannot be found and their path is strewn with vegetation. After having cleared the grass that was piling up, for lack of maintenance, Karel and his family arrive in front of a castle which offers “not really impressive“. Surrounded by several foreign workers who are busy patching up the house, the owner of the place offers them to go for a walk, guaranteeing that the castle will be restored to its original condition upon their return.

Except that following this long trip, Karel and his family want above all to discover the place. And what a discovery: the castle is completely dilapidated and bears no resemblance to the idyllic promise conveyed by the photographs of the site. “The faucet only let out dirty and smelly water“, remembers for example the mother of the family with 7 out of 7. The insalubrity is also reflected in electrical outlets hanging from the walls or even moldy food hidden in a bedside table. And that was without counting the excrement of pigeons and mice, or even the swimming pool”empty and dirty“.

Planted by the owner who decamped without a word, they decide to go to Lake Garda, 300 kilometers from the castle, and sleep in their car. For its part, the Belavilla rental specialist was unable, according to Karel, to properly support and reimburse the alleged victims of this potential damage. And this, despite the many photos that testify to the amazement experienced by holidaymakers when they discovered the famous castle.
