“I think the government deserves a prize,” says Vincent Van Quickenborne bluntly. “We have led the country through invisible crises,” he says.
Conversely, the Deputy Prime Minister is scathing towards the Socialist Party and its president. “What particularly bothers me is Magnette’s ‘njet’. Whenever we show ambition, on the budget for example, it is he who says no. I find that very regrettable. With a socialist as prime minister, this government would have done nothing,” he asserts.
One year before the elections (the European, federal and regional elections will take place at the same time, Ed.), Vincent Van Quickenborne also warns: “If the far left in Wallonia and the far right in Flanders win the elections, everything will be blocked”. The politician, however, is optimistic regarding the chances of his own party, the Open VLD: “We will score better than everyone thinks,” he warns.
