Belarusian ruler Alexander Lukashenko travels to China on a state visit on Tuesday. According to Chinese sources, Lukashenko will visit the country at the invitation of President Xi Jinping from February 28 to March 2. A spokeswoman for China’s foreign ministry on Monday praised the “weatherproof and comprehensive” partnership with Belarus. China looks forward to using the visit as an opportunity to further promote cooperation.

Lukashenko’s trip comes just days following the publication of a Chinese position paper on the war in Ukraine, in which Beijing reiterated its intention to be a neutral party and called for dialogue between the two sides. Lukashenko is a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
