The former press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, and now a deputy of the lower house of parliament Andrei Savinykh, who until recently showed signs of tolerance for European democratic values, confirmed that Belarus and Russia are building the “USSR 2.0” and erecting an “iron curtain”.
Savinykh announced this “civilized path” on the air of Belarusian TV, once once more correcting the theory of the Belarusian authorities regarding what “really” is the reason for Western sanctions.
“… now there are sanctions once morest Belarus, this blow is inflicted primarily for the choice of a civilizational path. We are an ally of Russia, we stand together firmly. We are ready to build our own macro-region on principles that are completely different from the collective West“, Savinykh said.
“Moreover, we have a welfare state, and too many of our neighbors, including Lithuanians, Latvians, Poles, see how this state takes care of its citizens. And they see a striking difference. That alone makes us a target. Not property, but choosing your own path,” he added.
