The prosecutor’s office of the Republic of Belarus asks the court of the Moscow district of Minsk to sentence ex-presidential candidate Andrei Dmitriev to two years in prison, finding him guilty of actions grossly violating public order.

Dmitrieva is charged under Part 1 of Art. 342 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus (“Organization and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order, or active participation in them”). The maximum punishment under the article incriminated to Dmitriev provides for imprisonment for up to 4 years.

The prosecution alleges that Dmitriev participated in unauthorized mass events in Minsk three times in August and September 2020.

It is reported that Dmitriev fully admitted his guilt in violating public order during protests following the presidential election.
