Russia can no longer use the Black Sea as a springboard to destabilize other regions of the world, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said at the summit of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization Parliamentary Assembly.
Addressing the representatives of the Black Sea states, the head of state noted that today the world already understands the importance of the Black Sea. According to him, it is one of the foundations of global security.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi
“And it is our nations, our countries, together with our partners, who are the guarantors of such security. We can provide stability and strengthen peace around the world. And we are already doing it. One of the main elements of Russia’s aggression against the rules-based international order was aggression in the Black Sea,” V. Zelenskis emphasized.
He added that this is where Russia has used its military support in Ukraine’s Crimea for many years to undermine the normal life of various peoples.
The head of Ukraine noted that Russia used the Black Sea in 2008. carrying out aggression against Sakartwell, as well as fomenting war and chaos in the Middle East, especially in Syria. Moreover, he added, it was the seizure of Crimea that started the hybrid war against Ukraine and the whole of Europe.
The President said that on February 24 Russia tried to use the region and the Black Sea as a weapon when full-scale war broke out. And not only against Ukraine.
The blockade of Ukrainian ports, the deliberate destruction of Ukrainian ports and export infrastructure were necessary for the aggressor to destroy the global food market and thus provoke new outbreaks of chaos in various parts of the world.
“Thanks to our cooperation, all this has been stopped… We managed to show that the cooperation of the nations of the Black Sea region, supported by our partners, can restore stability to the global food market. And in this way, to restore the security of normal life for dozens of nations – from Morocco to Southeast Asia”, said the President of Ukraine.
He added that he was able to secure the kind of protection for the western part of the Black Sea that now allows maritime export corridors to function. At the same time, the Danube region, which is also very important for world security, is gaining new importance.
“We managed to take the initiative from Russia in the Black Sea and create security conditions that force the aggressor to flee from the eastern part of the water area and try to hide warships,” V. Zelenskis pointed out.
He added that for the first time in the world, a fleet of naval drones – the Ukrainian fleet – began operating in the Black Sea.
“I also want to note that now – this is one of the main results of our actions – Russia cannot use the Black Sea as a springboard to destabilize other regions of the world,” he emphasized.

Russia No Longer Holds the Upper Hand in the Black Sea
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has declared that Russia can no longer use the Black Sea as a platform to destabilize other regions of the world. This statement comes as a significant development in the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, and marks a major shift in the balance of power in the region.
In his address to the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization Parliamentary Assembly, Zelensky emphasized the importance of the Black Sea as a foundation of global security. He noted that the world has come to understand the significance of the region, and that it is the collective responsibility of the nations of the Black Sea region, along with their partners, to guarantee stability and strengthen peace around the world.
Russia’s Past Aggression in the Black Sea
Russia has a history of using the Black Sea as a means to exert its influence and undermine the stability of other regions. In 2008, Russia launched an aggression against Georgia, while also fomenting war and chaos in the Middle East, particularly in Syria. The seizure of Crimea in 2014 marked the beginning of a hybrid war against Ukraine and the whole of Europe.
More recently, on February 24, Russia attempted to use the Black Sea as a weapon when full-scale war broke out. The blockade of Ukrainian ports and the deliberate destruction of Ukrainian ports and export infrastructure were designed to destroy the global food market and provoke new outbreaks of chaos in various parts of the world.
Ukraine’s Success in Restoring Stability
However, thanks to the cooperation of the nations of the Black Sea region, supported by their partners, Ukraine has been able to restore stability to the global food market and ensure the security of normal life for dozens of nations – from Morocco to Southeast Asia. Zelensky has secured protection for the western part of the Black Sea, allowing maritime export corridors to function, and the Danube region is gaining new importance.
Ukraine Takes the Initiative from Russia
Ukraine has managed to take the initiative from Russia in the Black Sea, creating security conditions that have forced the aggressor to flee from the eastern part of the water area and attempt to hide warships. Moreover, for the first time in the world, a fleet of naval drones - the Ukrainian fleet – has begun operating in the Black Sea.
Russia’s Loss of Influence
As a result of Ukraine’s efforts, Russia can no longer use the Black Sea as a springboard to destabilize other regions of the world. This marks a significant blow to Russia’s attempts to exert its influence and undermine global stability.
In recent news, Zelensky has shown off sea, land, and air developments that “clear the Black Sea” and “destroy Russia’s potential” [[2]]. This comes after Russia launched a strike on a civilian vessel in the Black Sea, prompting Zelensky to accuse Russia of aggression [[1]].
Earlier this year, Zelensky had expressed concerns that without new US military aid, Ukraine would be unable to defend a Black Sea shipping corridor [[3]]. However, with Ukraine’s recent successes, it appears that the country is now in a stronger position to resist Russian aggression and maintain stability in the region.
Conclusion
Ukraine’s efforts have successfully limited Russia’s ability to use the Black Sea as a means to destabilize other regions of the world. This marks a significant shift in the balance of power in the region, and is a testament to Ukraine’s determination to protect its sovereignty and maintain global stability.
