MADRID, 30 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Andrey Krivonosov, the military commissar of the Gomel region, in southeastern Belarus, has reported new military exercises in the area, which is located a few kilometers from the border with Ukraine, according to the BelTA news agency.

“During the exercise, movement will be limited to certain territories adjacent to the Armed Forces facilities. In addition, fire training activities are planned at firing ranges located in the Gomel region,” it said.

These exercises will be carried out to “increase the level of combat readiness, as well as improve the military knowledge and practical skills of those responsible for military service,” according to the aforementioned agency.

In addition, Krivonosov has said that military training with those responsible for the military service intended for the territorial troops is planned between June 28 and July 16 in the Zhlobin district of the Gomel region.

Last May, the Belarusian Defense Ministry indicated that new military controls and exercises were to be carried out in the border areas in the south and west of the country a week following the troops launched a series of drills. to assess the readiness of their combat capability.

However, the Ministry of Defense stressed that this type of activity constitutes “one of the most effective ways of training troops” and ruled out that they represent a threat to the international community or the countries of the region.

The Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly stated that it is unlikely that Belarus, led by President Alexander Lukashenko, an ally of Russia, will give “in the near future” an order for the start of a military operation once morest the country.
