Beirut – Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati discussed, on Friday, with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi the latest developments in the Israeli aggression against Lebanon and the region.

The official Lebanese News Agency reported that Mikati received Araghchi before noon today (Friday) at the Palace in the capital, Beirut, and discussed with him the current situation in Lebanon and the region.

In the meeting, the Iranian minister expressed his country’s concern for Lebanon and its support in the face of the Israeli aggression.

Araqchi said: “Iran will launch a diplomatic campaign to support Lebanon and request a meeting of the Organization of the Islamic Conference,” without giving further details.

Hours ago, Araqchi arrived in the capital, Beirut, at the head of an Iranian delegation, on an indefinite visit, accompanied by two members of Parliament and the head of the Red Crescent Society, according to a blog post on the “X” platform by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei.

Baqaei said: “Our delegation, headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Araghchi, and including two members of parliament and the head of the Red Crescent Society, will meet with high-level Lebanese officials.”

Baghaei explained that the visit includes “providing 10 tons of food and medicine to Lebanon, as part of Iranian humanitarian aid.”

He stressed that “Iran’s position in solidarity with the brave Lebanese people is firm,” stressing that “the entire region must realize the seriousness of what Lebanon is facing and its repercussions on the future of our peoples.”
