On the 20th anniversary of its founding (2003-2023), the Beirut Marathon Association organized a festive long-distance running race of 2000 km, with the participation of 240 male and female runners locally, regionally and internationally, according to the virtual system, where the participants ran the distance at consecutive intervals for a period of 6 months.
The Beirut Marathon Association held an honoring ceremony on the occasion in the conference hall of the startups complex in the Beirut Digital District (BDD). It was attended by a number of personalities. They were received by the president of the association, Mai Khalil, and presented by the Secretary-General of the Lebanese Olympic Committee, Vice President of the Association, retired Brigadier General Hassan Rustom, and a member of the administrative board, Bashir. Al-Sakka, a member of the Administrative Board of the Athletics Federation, Katya Rashed, and representatives of running clubs, runners, and celebrated runners. The ceremony began with a welcome from the media advisor, Hassan Mohieldin, then Al-Khalil gave a speech in which she presented the journey of the Beirut Marathon Association since its establishment and its history, and the most prominent stations and achievements that were achieved, and she thanked all those who stood by the association They were the ideal partners and the main factor for the continuation of the association’s march. She also thanked the male and female runners, both male and female, in Lebanon and abroad for participating in the race, and commended the efforts and sacrifices of the Beirut Marathon Association team.
After that, a group of runners who participated in all 20 Beirut Marathon races since its inception were honored and awarded the medal that bore the number 20 with participation certificates. They had brief words in which they expressed their happiness with the marathon event and its effects on their healthy, physical and psychological lifestyle. They are the male and female runners: Adel Yahya – Jihad Kubbi – Adel Arakji – Walid Al-Zein – Monique Shibli – Ali Hijazi – Zuhair Naji – Levon Tashjian and Walid Qabbani, who received from Hebron all the medals for the Taftah races in appreciation of his efforts in the field of training programs.
