Accepting to be a sales associate via facebook, a woman in Cao Bang was cheated to lose more than 600 million VND.
The Department of Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention and Control Cao Bang Provincial Police is investigating and verifying that the report of Ms. N. (30 years old), residing in Hop Giang ward, Cao Bang city, was scammed. more than 600 million VND when looking for jobs online.
Around mid-February 2023, Ms. N. saw a Facebook page called “TD Block YOD 2023” that she needed to recruit fashion business collaborators with a profit of over 300,000/day, so she researched and got an account named “Quynh Anh” actively texted, instructed to install an application called “TimeBucks”, created an account, did tasks to receive commissions and bonuses.
Ms. N. followed the instructions of these subjects and when she first transferred 500,000 VND to do the task, she was informed to pay a “commission” of 650,000 VND.
Seeing that it was simple, Ms. N continued to perform the next tasks and transferred an increasingly larger amount, but the subjects all reported errors and said that Ms. N. did not complete the task; asked Ms. N. if she wants to withdraw money, she must continue to perform other tasks. In total, Ms. N. has transferred more than 600 million VND.
When she knew she had been cheated, the victim went to the Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention and Control Department of Cao Bang Provincial Police to report.
