The People’s House opens its doors in Washington D.C.and provides the public with an immersive experience with a life-size replica of the Oval Office. The organizers point out that the exhibition allows visitors to play the role of a sitting president or a cabinet member.
Attendees can participate in a cabinet meeting and vote on a plan of action for the president. Furthermore, there are virtual recreations of other areas of the West Wingsuch as the Cabinet Room, where leaders provide presidential advice. The advanced technology also offers virtual access to various rooms on the State Floor, including the East, Green, Blue and Red Rooms.
The focal point of the exhibition is the replica of the Oval Office, with exact reproductions of the desktopPresident Joe Biden’s couches and even the family Bible. According to the White House Historical Associationthe decoration will vary with each new president.
“When a family visits Washington DC and is short on time, we hope they can visit the White House, although most will not make it,” as stated to KCRA Stewart McLaurin, president of the association. “That’s why we offer this experience across the street from the White House, at 1700 Pennsylvania Avenue, so they can learn about the presidency and the White House”.
