The slogan has not changed: we must stop political politics and give back to French citizens the power to control their representatives, in particular by including the citizens’ initiative referendum (RIC) in the Constitution.
“We must put democracy at the center to avoid getting lost in the political game”
The objective of the citizens’ initiative referendum is clear: the citizens must be the bosses of the elected officials, and not the other way around. The road still seems long, given that today in France, “ elected officials completely free themselves from constraints “And that the” presidential figure crushes everything else. »
Taking stock of what is wrong in our country, Clara Egger goes further: “ The root of evil is political. We may change the players, the game does not change. Life does not change because citizens lack rights. They do not control the rules of the political game. »

“Technically, change is very easy, the brakes are political”
By taking a step back and comparing the French political system to that of other countries in the world, such as Switzerland, Clara Egger intends to challenge the idea that the RIC is a myth, an unreachable utopia. ” Other countries are doing it, and for 20 years it has been an idea that has guided those who want change. », She assures.

Concretely, the movement should be led by a citizen candidate. He himself should be supported by the mayors of France, who are the first political links with the citizens. But today, disgusted with politics in the same way as citizens, only 28% of mayors deliver their sponsorship. Clara Egger therefore wants mayors to pull themselves together and use their political power, like the resistant mayors we recently received.

180 mayors have shown their support for Espoir RIC 2022. There is still a long way to go, but it is a start. And the candidate remains optimistic, without being deluded: ” hopes of victory are slim.
