BeIN Sports will broadcast the matches of the French team until 2023

This Monday, Florent Houzot – director of antennas, programs and editorial BeIN Sports – announced the opening of a partnership between BeIN Sports and FIBA. The goal? Broadcast the matches of the French teams until 2023. We strongly validate.

It’s a small revolution for French basketball. Following a partnership between BeIN Sports and FIBA, the matches of the French men’s and women’s teams will now be broadcast on BeIN Sports channels. FIBA competitions will also be broadcast there. An example ? On the night of Friday to Saturday at 2:05 a.m., several hours following Montenegro – France, Team USA will face Puerto Rico on BeIN Sports 1 in a qualifying match for the 2023 World Cup. Those who have already tried it know, it was up now very complicated to follow this kind of very dark match, played in a gymnasium in the suburbs of San Juan between four machetes and with an iguana which pounces on the board. This partnership between BeIN Sports and FIBA, active until 2023, will give channel subscribers the opportunity to follow any player on its international windows (excluding friendly matches). We think of a team like Canada, in which many NBA players like Shai Gi play… oh no, no big name is playing the qualifying matches for the 2023 World Cup with Canada. But there’s Anthony Bennett and that’s worth all the gold in the world.

As a side note, EuroBasket 2022, from September 1 to 18, is unfortunately not part of the contract between BeIN Sports and FIBA. This is why it is useful to make a small point on the deadlines of the deal. Are concerned :

  • The qualifying matches for the 2023 Men’s World Cup, with all the matches of the France team and Team USA.
  • The 2022 Women’s World Cup, from September 22 to October 1, with the live broadcast of the 38 matches of the competition.
  • Women’s EuroBasket 2023, from June 15 to 25, 2023.
  • The 2023 Men’s World Cup, from August 25 to September 10, 2023, in its entirety.

We are already in a hurry to be in 2023 to be able to watch a Senegal – China at 3 a.m. and get excited on a poster by Zhou Qi. What’s next? As for Paris 2024, the TV rights will probably be awarded to the national antenna story of not forcing the general public and the Olympic spirit to a subscription. This is surely the reason why the partnership ends at the end of the 2023 World Cup. Now, if France Télé decides to interrupt a counter-attack by Kevin Durant to broadcast the first round of the sack race event, all contribution from other channels would indeed be welcome.

Nice news. This partnership should do great good to the morale of our Blues, who now know that the country looks at them differently than through a 180p link where we are forced to concentrate to follow the meeting: “Vincent Poirier is the big pixel there, and Fournier we recognize his pumps”.
